Depuis hier, un SMS est envoyé aux clients Orange, parfois en plusieurs exemplaires. Avec pour contenu « Bonne année 2008 et tout et tout », le message est envoyé d’un numéro commençant par 09 87 dans la plupart des cas.
Les numéros en 09 n’étant pas surtaxés, il est difficile de définir l’objectif de ce spam. Répondre au SMS ne devrait donc pas faire gonfler la facture de l’utilisateur, il s’agit peut-être d’une méthode visant à confirmer l’existence des numéros auxquels il est envoyé et ainsi constituer une base de données pouvant être revendue. Les victimes indiquent tout de même que ce numéro ne semble pas attribué.
Alors comment le spammeur peut-il vérifier l’existence des numéros visés s’il est impossible de lui répondre ? Il existe une hypothèse qui pourrait justifier ceci : s’agit peut-être d’un message enregistré par le spammeur, comme pour un répondeur, qui vous fait croire que le numéro n’existe pas mais vous êtes pourtant bel et bien en train de l’appeler. Ou alors, il peut aussi se baser sur les accuser de réceptions pour confirmer les numéros…
Orange conseille à ses client de communiquer le numéro à l’origine du spam au service SignalSpam, par le biais du 33700 (coût d’un SMS). Une enquête est en cours afin de déterminer son origine.
